What is up with Natural Health Products in Canada? + the bigger picture
The first part of this post was prepared by advocates of Natural Health products in Canada. The second part consists of commentary and links that I am sharing personally. When sharing this information, readers may choose to either include or not include the second part. But do please share the first part as 70% of Canadians make use of natural health products and due to the recently passed budget bill, unless we show our legislators the very real consequences of one of the line items in the budget, we stand to loose access to non-pharma-based therapeutics/medicine.

And as helpful as signing petitions or postcards are, because every bit counts, individually mailed letters (that you don't need to buy postage for), phone calls, and in-person meetings are more effective. If you type out a letter and print it off your computer, be sure to also include a handwritten portion on that letter for it to stand out and lend some more weight.
Please share this far and wide. We can turn this around, but time is limited to do so, and we need Canadians coast to coast to make their voices heard.

WHY ARE WE LOSING OUR NATURAL HEALTH PRODUCTS?
"Health Canada is implementing what they call the Self-Care Framework. When fully implemented most of our natural health products will be gone. The natural health practitioners we rely on will also be gone. Health Canada will be responsible for people losing their livelihoods and their lives.
In the meantime, prices are going to skyrocket.
We all need to get involved to help to stop Health Canada.

HOW ARE THE NATURAL PRODUCTS WE RELY ON BEING TAKEN AWAY?
There are some immediate Health Canada initiatives we need to stop.
Health Canada is imposing new fees on natural health businesses that will drive many small and medium-sized ones out of business. Their products will be gone.
Health Canada is also imposing stricter regulations on natural products that will be costly for natural health companies to comply with. This will also drive natural health companies out of business. Their products will be gone.
For the products that survive this, the prices will increase because the producers will have to pass on their increased costs. This takes the remaining products away from the poor and disadvantaged who cannot afford the higher prices.
The new fees collected by Health Canada will be used to create a new enforcement arm to impose stricter regulations and censor truthful health information. Producers and practitioners will no longer be able to publicly share truthful information about natural products. If you cannot be told a natural product can help you, the product might as well not exist.
If you and your family cannot be told the truth, you cannot make crucial health decisions.
Huge new fines to cripple and destroy the natural health community are being imposed. $5,000,000 a day fines that Health Canada told us were only appropriate for the big pharmaceutical companies have just been imposed on the natural health community. Your local health food store cannot survive a $5,000,000 fine. Your health practitioner, such as a naturopathic doctor cannot survive a $5,000,000 fine. These huge fines are not meant to punish, they are meant to destroy.
WHY IS THIS A PROBLEM?
Many Canadians are only alive today because of natural health products. Many more only enjoy the quality of life because they manage serious health conditions with natural health products. It is reckless and dangerous to take these products away.
And we should have a choice. We should have the freedom to choose natural products. But Health Canada is telling us we need to lose this freedom because natural health products are so “risky”. This is a lie. You are fourteen times more likely to be struck by lightning than to be killed by a natural health product. None of us would give up a single freedom to be protected from lightning and yet lightning is more dangerous to us than all the natural health products on the market.

From some of them you will learn that this is not the first time Natural Health Products have been under attack. It was a concerted citizen effort that stopped the government in the past. This time around, this initiative was part of a recently passed budget bill, not a bill on its own.

This action re: Natural Health Products follows two other changes related to Health Canada in the past three years and all three align with the goals and aims of the World Economic Forum's "Agile Regulations for the Fourth Industrial Revolution".
There was a change to the criteria needed to approve Covid-19 vaccines such that the requirement for independent testing on the SAFETY and EFFICACY of the products was removed. The "Agile" Regulations. Currently, the Canadian Government is reforming the regulatory standards for the approval of new therapeutic products in order to "expedite" the approval of novel drugs to the market, exposing healthy Canadians (and pets and livestock) to potentially high risk products. https://www.canadiancovidcarealliance.org/all/agile-regulations/. Taken together, these three changes at Health Canada all appear to favour the interests of "non-state actors" at the World Health Organization and appear to be aligned with what the World Economic Forum described in December 2020 as "soft law":
Soft law can be more easily updated to keep pace with technological change and be more accessible and less burdensome than prescriptive regulation. As with regulation, the principles of proportionality, fairness and openness remain crucial. Outdated or excessive guidance that diverts resource into unnecessary compliance activity without achieving outcomes may be worse than having no guidance at all. (p. 17)

In other words, protection of human life through the demonstration of rigorous safety testing has now been recast as "unnecessary compliance activity" that "diverts resource" through "outdated or excessive guidance".
Given that the World Health Organization is an agency of the United Nations, it is important to know who the "non-state actors" are, with whom the UN has set up parameters for collaboration back in 2016. Co-Labor = working together, i.e. the United Nations and its health agency actively work together with organizations that support and/represent major pharmaceutical manufacturers world wide. I challenge anyone to find small and mid-sized natural health product manufacturers or citizen's health advocacy groups among the list of Donors to the United Nations Foundation that help make this work of co-laboration possible.

MANY OF THE NAMES THAT APPEAR HERE ARE ALREADY KNOWN TO THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THE COVID SCIENCE THESE PAST FEW YEARS.
These include the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Wellcome Trust, the Rockefeller Foundation, The Population Council Inc., the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations etc.
It doesn't take much to see why those interested in a new "industrial revolution" would want to expedite an approval process that eliminates the need to invest costly resources in science-based proof of safety -- proofs essential to the wellbeing of human life.

In 2021, the posted requirements were THREE trials of at least 3000 dose participants each. Already in 2021, it was becoming apparent that Health Canada was NOT insisting on this amount of safety testing. [NOTE ADDED ON JULY 11, 11 pm: The screen cap below indicates the need for at least 3000 vaccinated study participants and 3000 placebo. It does not support what I had written about the need for THREE studies of that size per product. I may have made an error incorrectly interpreting phase 3 as 3 studies. OR that truly was a requirement, just not included in the screen caps I prepared to illustrate a series of questions I was addressing to some health official or other in the late summer of 2021. Thanks to a reader, I have received copies from the WayBackMachine and will prepare an update or followup post. In any case, with the advent of “agile regulations” and the “Toolkit for Regulators” all of these studies with placebos, and a 6 month follow up are now being considered unnecessary compliance activity" that "diverts resource" through "outdated or excessive guidance".]
Since then, those requirements no longer appear at the same URL at all.
Linda McQuaig has long been warning us that the corporate elite shapes government economic and social policies in ways that harm the public interest. Even our current Deputy Prime Minister, Chrystia Freeland, wrote something similar once upon a time. This was prior to her being elected as Liberal MP ten years ago. In January 2014 Christia Freeland's account of interviews with members of the corporate elite was published: Plutocrats: The Rise of the New Global Super-Rich and the Fall of Everyone Else
In it, she shared these insights:
It is a measure of the financial and intellectual power of plutocrats in the world economy that their goal is to guide the state. Indeed, the muscle of the philanthro-capitalists is such that they can sometimes unintentionally distort the social safety nets of entire nations. (p.43)
Where things get really complicated is when the philanthro-capitalists use their money to finance a political agenda that dovetails with their personal business interests or with the interests of the plutocratic class as a whole. (p. 44)
As [Warren Buffet] likes to put it, “There’s class warfare, all right. But it’s my class, the rich class, that’s making war, and we’re winning.” (p. 45)
Well folks, we are seeing this class warfare before our very eyes.
Will the plutocrats be winning? Those who wish to guide the state with values like Profit before People?
Or will Canadians resist?
We lost out against the government COVID-disinformation war.
With only 6000 signatories re: the Agile Regulations petition, we are in danger of losing out on the Agile Regulations front.
And now, if we lose on the Natural Health Products front, it will be "Three strikes and you're out!" for anyone not part of the plutocrat, philanthro-capitalist class!
